P90X: An Update

I am on day 7 of P90X (Lean version). I used yesterday (instead of today) as my rest day, on account of the giving blood incident. I got up late yesterday morning and didn’t feel punchy enough for the Kenpo (kickboxing) workout. Punchy…get it? So, today I’m going to the gym after work to do 40 minutes of cardio and 10 minutes of light weightlifting. Tomorrow commences day 8, week 2 of P90X. Now that I’ve got the workout schedule down, I need to get a little more picky with the diet. I had some sugary stuff the day I gave blood, and one sugary item the day after (ice cream). Luckily I’m not craving any sweets today. I’ll just need to knock that off from now on. Acceptable sweets: small dark chocolate squares (serving 1-2 pieces), yogurt (Fage, if I feel like eating something higher in fat), espresso or flavored coffee, PB&J sandwich, granola, or fruit.

Another thing I’m thinking about is buying an iPod shuffle. My regular iPod is 60 GB and not exactly portable when working out or cleaning (makes cleaning way more fun, try it sometime). Plus, I just found out I can't put it on hold anymore. The switch doesn't work. Haven't found a way to remedy that yet short of going to the Apple store and doling out money. I see that 2GB iPod shuffles are only $69.00. With iTunes 7, I can share playlists from my library with the shuffle – workout playlists, etc. I also see they are offering new, colorful shuffles. That’s fun. I may be ordering one tonight or tomorrow. I think its portability will be a bonus when I’m at the gym or at home using P90X (I don't like the P90X music). I think my regular iPod may just stay hooked up at home to either of my 2 iPod sound docks. The shuffle may be easier for the morning commute playlist in my car. Plus, it's much less loss if it should be stolen or damaged.

Food for thought I guess. Anyone out there have any suggestions? I'm basically limiting myself to Apple products at the moment. I'm really in love with the iPod. I once had an iRiver and wasn't impressed.

I've been considering a shuffle for working out as well. They have some good prices on ebay...as I'm always looking for a deal. Everyone that has one seems to love it, and they are so portable. Makes me remember back in the day as I ran carrying my anti-skip cd player around. It's like a big old cell phone compared to todays tiny versions. Also they have a new Itunes 8 available which adds some new nice features.
